Difficult situation for sure. Lots of variables that are hard to control. I do think you overrate Tinkerbell. Wishing for any politician that thinks beyond their own needs is impossible
"Animal Manure" - oh, and where are those animals coming from if we all need to go veggie? Who manufactures the supplements needed by veggies to maintain their health?
Moreover, about 30 million people in Britain is a historical 'carrying capacity', at the end of the 18th century before the Napoleonic Wars. After the Black Death in the 14th century it was around 10`5 of that number. So perhaps (I am being horrid here!) a 'culling' of the population is perhaps not that bad if we ant to achieve Net Zero ... but people will be well advised to study medieval history, especially agriculture, husbandry, crafts ... oh, and there won't be anything depending on electricity ... sorry, smartphone-addicted chaps and chapesses
Tee hee hee! Nice one! Two courses are better for one's waistline anyway - and 'tis a good preparation for when we'll be served with food rationing ...

I have read that the time of the Napoleonic wars is the last time Britain was self-sufficient in food.
That was also the time when huge innovations in agriculture took place, e.g the Norfolk Four Course system.
I can usually only manage the main and a sweet.

It seems we never try to prevent a crisis.
