I don't see where many countries really tried to limit immigration. So, I assume this is part of some overall plan to cause disruption everywhere-all at once.

As for the voting system - given the results in the German local Länder elections last month, I'm a firm believer in FPTP again because the shameful spectacle of establishment parties ganging together to deprive a third of voters from their political system is not democratic, especially since German MPs do not have the tradition of representing all their constituents regardless of rosette colour.
It is however a question of candidate selection- they must be properly local and not parachuted in for spurious gains in the HoC - the abysmal performance of the Tory MPs in the last parliament demonstrates this nicely.
And civil serpents; unless there's a root-and-branch reform in Whitehall things will only ever get worse.
