The "...beleaguered banking industry"?

How in the name of the wee man can an industry that has the exorbitant privilege of literally creating money become "beleaguered"? Surely incompetence raised to the power of arrogance.

As for Ho Chi Minh's image, not only did his side win their war hands down against what was supposed to be the world's pre-eminent military power, Vietnam is now a well-governed and reasonably prosperous nation. Unlike the UK or the USA. Maybe the students were right.

"...thirteen years of socialist misrule".

Britain has never seen anything remotely connected with socialism since the 1970s. Blair simply made Labour electable by stealing Mrs Thatcher's clothes - and if that image makes you wince, doesn't it foreshadow Sir Keir's apparent uncertainty about sex?

Banking: you've anwered your own question. An old financial expert once said everyone knows what happens when you give money to banks, the only question is which wall.

The students were just anti as they always are.

Blair fooled Thatcher into thinking he would carry on the same path. The structural changes were in part, I think, to emasculate Parliament so it could never again reassert the small c conservatism of the people - the sort that wants peace and prosperity, jobs at a good rate of pay so they could support their families. Instead we got ideology, of the sort shown by Anthony Crosland when he vowed to destroy all grammar schools - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Crosland#:~:text=In%20her%20biography%20published%20in,And%20Wales%20and%20Northern%20Ireland.%22

Sir Keir is a golem.
