One cheeky point and one question!

Cheeky point: read GBShaw's proposal carefully - wouldn't this mean all the benny-recipients would be prime material for 'assisted suicide', 'poor refugees' and dinghy-drivers included?

The question: has there been any voice at all from any imam or islamic savant about 'assisted suicide' being acceptable for muslims? I've not done any research, but it seems to me that we ought know if only Christians need to be shouted down for 'religious interference' or if other religions might also share that fate. Perhaps muslim doctors would refuse to apply this 'law'? We should be told!

An assisted dying law is not all that bad. I have seen so many people suffer immense pain and suffering for long periods of time. Tough on the individual and on the family.

The problem occurs when the government gets overly involved. Then there is the question of how much one can trust their government in the future. We see governments flip-flop on many issues.

So I guess it comes down to the time that the decision has to be made and the current law on the books.

Disregarding any fear of government going batshit crazy and killing off seniors, I am in favor of the legal opportunity to make a dying decision. Without it, I would take a trip to the desert after saying goodby to my family.
