Birmingham City Council is broke and will have to concentrate on core services only.
Why is that not true for UK Limited?
Imagine the Treasury putting its foot down:
Ukraine - would love to continue funding the slaughter, but simply can’t afford it, old boy.
Net Zero - Cash Zero, we’re afraid. Back to burning coal and anything else while we’re building nukes - British made, not EDF for goodness’ sake.
Hospital doctors and train drivers: we agree, pay has fallen behind inflation. But it’s far worse for many others. Let’s all pull together.
Everyone WFH has a choice: come to the office for work, or stay home without it.
GPs: awfully sorry, but your contracts will have to be renegotiated. You will be available 24/7 - status ante quo, remember (or should that be ante Bruno)? - which should present little difficulty since you are increasingly in group practices. That will take the pressure off hospitals. Also, the fact that so many GPs can afford to work part-time indicates a need to freeze pay rises for years to come. Emigrate, you say? Where else are you going to get what you have here?
Sorry, but the Behavioural Insights Team will have to be wound up. The misinformers and manipulators will have to be redeployed. Ever thought of teaching as a career? The ads say it’s wonderful.
Und so weiter, und so weiter.
The UK's crumbling schools and lack of services must be ignored as the NATO proxy war and mass migration must continue. Suck it up they say. It is for the greater good.
I'm just a bit fuzzy on who is really benefitting from all of this good.
